Tudor Ile: A Creative Expat in Netherlands
From the #YoungLionsRomania2025 series, meet Tudor Ile, whose passion for film and happenings is deeply rooted in his childhood. From his early days of crafting funky stories through an improvised puppet theater to organizing a music festival in the Netherlands or wearing the DJ’s hat, Tudor’s journey has been shaped by a love for immersive experiences. Whether it’s concocting short films for family milestones or exploring the seas at Mangalia, Tudor’s creative process thrives through introspection. Let’s dive into Tudor’s world of creativity and inspiration, where every idea is an invitation to explore unexpected horizons.
1. WHAT WOULD MAKE YOUR SOUL SING? WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
Definitely going to the cinema. The idea of escapism in a movie theater, where it’s just you and the film, is deeply fulfilling. I see it as both a method of relaxation and a source of entertainment, allowing me to immerse myself completely in the story on screen.

2. A CHILDHOOD STORY THAT ANNOUNCED THE CREATIVE PERSON YOU ARE TODAY
It would probably be my way of playing as a child. I remember that I used to take all my toys and create stories and scenarios with them, almost like putting on a puppet theater. I guess it was an early way of expressing creativity and my love for storytelling.
3. BEST CONTEXT EVER FOR INSPIRATION WAS
Taking a walk and being alone with my thoughts. That’s when all my creative ideas seem to surface, when I can disconnect from the noise and focus on the rhythm of my own mind.

4. THE PROJECT YOU LOVED MOST
In my final year of my bachelor studies in the Netherlands, I had the opportunity to organize a music festival with my colleagues. This was by far my favorite project because we built it from scratch: the concept, the artists, everything. It was a unique experience.
5. THE PROJECT OTHERS LOVED MOST:
Whenever one of my parents' friends has a milestone birthday, such as turning 50 or 60, I am asked to create a short, funny movie for their birthday party, featuring moments from their lives. These films are always met with so much joy and laughter. I never imagined that a simple 10-minute film could bring so much happiness to someone.
6. THE BEST THING ABOUT LOCAL CREATIVITY IS:
Its unique sense of wit, which stands out in ways I’ve never encountered anywhere else.
7. BEST STATEMENT OF LOCAL HUMOR
“Hazul de necaz” (finding humor in misfortune). It’s incredible how we manage to laugh and find a source of humor even in the most negative scenarios.
8. ADVICE FOR INTERNATIONAL HEADHUNTERS, RELATED TO LOCAL CREATIVES
They are always a pleasant surprise. That’s all what I’m going to say, let yourself be surprised.
9. BEST PLACE IN BUCHAREST
The Dinamo Stadium. I couldn’t choose any other place, as Dinamo is my favorite team and it’s the place where I used to spend every weekend and where I’ve experienced some of the most intense emotions.
10. BEST PLACE IN ROMANIA
The Mangalia promenade is one of my favorite places, especially the lighthouse area. I've always been drawn to the sea, but this promenade is particularly special because I spent all my childhood summers there.

11. MOST DISTURBING CLICHÉ ABOUT ROMANIA, IN THE MEDIA OUTLETS OF THE WORLD
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a cliché, but during my time abroad, I’ve noticed that many people know absolutely nothing about Romania. When you say "Romania," it means nothing to them, zero. There are so many people that can’t even mention one fact or idea about the country.
12. YOUR COUNTRY SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR
The birthplace of remarkable men of culture such as Mircea Eliade or Emil Cioran who left their mark far beyond its borders.
13. YOUR VIEWS ON SPIRITUALITY
I don’t consider myself a very spiritual person. However, I enjoy reading about different perspectives and concepts on spirituality from various cultures, as well as exploring the philosophy and history of religion.
14. YOUR VIEWS ON MONEY
Never let money control you. That’s the most important thing.
15. AN INSPIRATION SOURCE YOU RECOMMEND FOR A YOUNG CREATIVE
I would recommend any Wes Anderson film. It’s impossible not to feel inspired by his creations, they’re some of the most visually stunning and thought-provoking movies ever made.

16. A LOCAL-BASED FEMALE TALENT TO BE PROMOTED INTERNATIONALlY
Raluca Peagu. She is a 17-year-old digital artist with incredible talent. Her work is super intriguing and the characters she creates are amazing, so detailed and full of personality. She’s got so much potential and I can totally see her making waves in the animation industry someday.
